In the summer of 2011, the Chicago libraries recorded the number of participants per branch of the library versus the number of books read from that branch.  They wanted to predict the number of books read at each branch based on the number of participants in the summer program.  The least squares regression equation was  books read = -657.0 +24.74 participants For one branch of the library the number of participants was 492. The number of books read was 10866.  Find the residual.

Tests for allergies can be done in multiple ways. One way is through a blood test. ImmunoCAP is one of such tests. About 0.5% of adults have tree nut allergies at some level of severity. The test correctly identifies 94% of the time adults with a tree nut allergy and correctly identifies those without tree nut allergies 93% of the time.  What is the probability of an adult not having a tree nut allergy and the test being positive?

A least squares regression equation was computed to predict the weight (lbs) of a 3 year old toddler based on the toddler’s height (in). The equation was yhat = 5.63 + 0.618x.  (The data set included toddlers between roughly 24 and 48 inches.)  Find the predicted weight of a toddler that was 48 inches tall.

Microsoft has a new online tool that tries to guess the age of the individual in the image. Individuals were told to upload a photo of themselves and have the program determine their age (ToolAge).  After this was determine, the individuals were asked to  enter their real age (True Age). A regression model was made to predict true age based on the tool age. If only the data for the women was included, value of R2 is 46.4%. Interpret R2 (if applicable).
