Penalties for Omitting Pre-Exam Steps: Omitting any of the steps below will incur a 10-20-point penalty deducted from your exam score, so follow instructions carefully! Pre-Exam Steps: The following is a list of Pre-Exam Steps to go through before starting the exam.  If there is some reason you cannot reasonably complete one of the following steps, then explain why in order to possibly avoid a penalty. Student ID: You will first show the webcam your photo id in the start-up sequence. Work area/Desktop: Use the webcam to show that your work area/desktop (where you will be writing) is clear and only allowed resources are present. If you are using a webcam built into a monitor then just tip the monitor forward to show work area. Room Environment: Show a 360 view of room environment and wall/area directly behind the computer where your eyes might wander to show that there are no resources present. If you are using a webcam built into a monitor that you cannot pick up, then use a mirror to show the area behind the monitor and around the room. Power Off Phone: Show the webcam your cell phone, then you powering it down to turn it off, then setting it at a location BEHIND YOU where it would be obvious if you got up to access it. Periodic Table: Show your printed Periodic Table handout with no color-coding or additional writing on it (printed front and BLANK back). When showing papers, hold for a count of 1-2-3 before flipping over, then hold for a count of 1-2-3. None of the pieces of paper in Steps 5-7 should be folded! Ion Table: (Not needed for Exam 1) show your ion table (printed front and BLANK back) with the 10 Polyatomic Ion formulas that you should memorize BLANK (you should NOT have them written in at the start, but then can add them from memory once you show the page to the camera). When showing papers, hold for a count of 1-2-3 before flipping over, then hold for a count of 1-2-3. Scratch Paper: Show your scratch paper (front and back). Neither piece of paper should be folded!  When showing papers, hold for a count of 1-2-3 before flipping over, then hold for a count of 1-2-3. Calculator: Remove the case/lid/instructions from your calculator and show yourself setting those aside with your phone. Show your calculator (front and back). Hold for a count of 1-2-3 for each side. It should NOT be a graphing calculator.  If you are using the calculator built into Honorlock instead, just verbally say so for this part (so there should NOT be a calculator at or near your work area/desktop). I have done ALL the above steps as evidenced in the Honorlock video recording.
