Free Respоnse #1  (25pts):  Describe glucоse’s jоurney from dietаry stаrch to glycogen. Pаrt 1 (12pts): Follow amylopectin through the process of digestion and absorption.  You must describe the mechanical and chemical digestion of amylopectin in terms of specific GIT compartments, glycosidic bonds and digestive enzymes.  Then, describe the process of glucose transport across the apical and basolateral membranes in terms of specific glucose transporters and their unique characteristics.  Part 2 (13pts): Follow glucose through the process of insulin-stimulated disposal in skeletal muscle and storage as glycogen. You must describe the process of glucose uptake via skeletal muscle in terms of a specific glucose transporter and glucose kinase, including brief description of how this combination of transporter/kinase influences how/when muscle takes up glucose.  Then, describe the process of adding a glucose molecule to glycogen via an a(1,6) glycosidic bond in terms of the key control point of glycogenesis and the enzyme in the glycogenesis pathway that makes a(1,6) bonds.  You do NOT need to reference any other steps or metabolites in the glycogenesis pathway.
