Your webcam recording should clearly show you putting the phone away before beginning the assessment. Once the Honorlock setup is complete, you may NOT access, handle, look at, or use your phone again for the remainder of the assessment. If you need technical assistance during the assessment, use the authorized Honorlock support options available through the testing system. Having a phone accessible at your testing station or using a phone after completing the required Honorlock setup may result in the assessment being reviewed for a violation of the proctoring requirements. Before Starting the Assessment You will need: A laptop or desktop computer. You may not take the assessment on a tablet or phone. A cell phone is only required by Honorlock to complete the QR-code/Exam Environment View process. The phone must be put away immediately after this process is completed. A working webcam and microphone. Reliable Internet connection Photo identification in the form of a Valencia-issued student ID card or government-issued ID card (i.e. driver's license, passport) Google Chrome downloaded (required browser) Honorlock Chrome Extension downloaded Before beginning, close all unnecessary applications, browser tabs, websites, messaging programs, AI tools, and other programs. Testing Environment Requirements Your online testing environment should mimic an in-person, closed-book testing environment. Workspace Sit at a clean desk or table, not on a bed or couch. Clear the desk/table of all materials that are not specifically authorized for the assessment. No notes, books, calculators, study materials, or other learning resources are permitted unless specifically stated otherwise in the assessment instructions. No writing, notes, formulas, diagrams, or other course-related information should be visible on your desk, walls, or surrounding area. No additional computers, tablets, smartwatches, or other electronic devices may be accessible. Dual monitors are not permitted. Headphones/earbuds are not permitted. Smartwatches are not permitted. Music, television, videos, or other audio should not be playing in the background. No other person may be present in the testing room. Camera Position: Position your webcam so that you and as much of your testing workspace as reasonably possible are visible during the assessment. Your face must remain clearly visible throughout the assessment. The camera should not be positioned so closely that only your face is visible while your workspace and movements cannot be observed. Do not intentionally reposition, cover, disable, obstruct, or move out of view of the webcam during the assessment. Lighting must be sufficient for your face and testing environment to be clearly visible. Avoid placing a bright light or window directly behind you. During the Assessment You MUST: Remain visible on the webcam for the entire assessment. Remain at the same testing location for the entire assessment. Keep your face clearly visible. Keep your eyes directed toward your computer screen. Maintain a quiet testing environment. Do not read out questions or parts/segments of the questions and answers. Complete the assessment independently. Wear appropriate clothing. Keep your phone and all other unauthorized electronic devices away and out of reach for the entire assessment. Additional Assessment Room Scan: Honorlock or your assessment may prompt you to do a room scan during the assessment. Clearly show your testing workspace and the surrounding testing area as directed in the room scan. You MUST NOT: Use or access your cell phone after completing the Honorlock setup. Read assessment questions aloud. Repeatedly look away from the computer screen or toward areas outside the testing workspace. Communicate with another person. Receive assistance from another person. Use notes, books, websites, search engines, AI tools, calculators, or other resources unless specifically authorized for that assessment. Open websites other than Canvas/Honorlock or other sites specifically authorized by the instructor. Open or use other programs, applications, messaging services, or browser windows. Use headphones, earbuds, smartwatches, tablets, secondary computers, or other electronic devices. Leave the room during the assessment or after the room scan. Move the computer to another room or testing location after beginning. Allow another person to enter or remain in the testing area. All proctored assessment recordings will be reviewed to determine whether the assessment requirements were followed. Assessment attempts that do not have a continuous usable proctoring recording or that show evidence that the assessment requirements were not followed may not be accepted and may receive a grade of zero in accordance with the course academic-integrity and proctoring policies.
