Principle: Tаke test tаking seriоusly, аnd yоu shоuld be ok. It’s as simple as that.   A room scan is required. The room scan must provide clear and compelling evidence for ALL of the following: There is no one else in the room. There are no other electronic devices in the room apart from your personal computer. Electronic devices that are properly stored away are acceptable. If you need to use your phone for two factor authentication, that is allowable – but the phone must be then properly and immediately stored way. There is no other material that could be used to assist test taking, such as notes. The scratch sheet at the start of the exam is completely blank on both sides. Dr. Smith (see below video) will run you through taking a room scan. There is no prize for performing the room scan quickly – so take your time as you MUST be thorough.   In addition, the onus is on you to fully control your test taking environment. If someone (like a parent or room mate) enters you exam space, your test is likely to be flagged and you run the risk of having part of your exam not counting.    If a student room scan is flagged by the AI, or your exam is flagged in any other way, the instructor will review it. If the instructor is of the opinion that the room scan was NOT performed to reasonable expectations (if clear and sufficient evidence is NOT provided there are no devices, no persons, no notes, no assistance, etc.), the video will be reviewed by another Professor. If the other professor is also of the opinion that the student has not acted in a reasonable manner, the student will receive a zero grade for that exam, without the option of re-sitting the exam. In some circumstances, the student may be also reported for academic misconduct. The decision to withhold credit for a test will be final and the student will not be provided with a detailed explanation nor have the right to appeal. To be honest, this message is mainly targeted at the one or two students (hopefully, now none) who think taking tests remotely is something not to be taken seriously or see it as an opportunity to act casually or inappropriately.   As a check that you watched Dr. Smith's video, you MUST answer the multiple choice question presented below.     What does Dr. Smith say about why a test taker may be looking off to their side during a test?   [If you watch the video, this is an easy question. If you do NOT get this question correct (you cannot check this), you will be deemed as not having watched this video and therefore not following required examination protocol]
