In the Star Wars universe, the planet of Naboo has a high rugged mountain range, the Gallo Mountains, shown in the image below. As is standard in maps “North” is at the top of the image. The water visible at the bottom of the image is part of a large ocean. We are going to apply the principles of position and time symmetry and assume that plate tectonics works the same on Earth and Naboo even though it is a long time ago in a galaxy far far way. The next two questions ask you to use your understanding of geologic processes to explain how such mountains would form. Image Description Ocean extends along the bottom of the picture. Swamp is near the ocean between the ocean and the Gallo Mountains. Gallo Mountains extend from right to left across the image. Above the mountains are planes and more swamp.
