Build one body paragraph- Identify one area where your language changes. (Choose one from the brainstorming activity you completed earlier in the module.) Choose one of these areas and develop it into a supporting body paragraph. Include the elements below: Beginning: Start with a topic sentence. This topic sentence includes a focused point and controlling idea. Ex. My home language is relaxed. (topic + controlling idea) Elaboration/Background Provide background or fully explain the topic sentence. Who, what, when, where? Middle: Supporting sentences include evidence (general and specific) and warrants (how each piece of evidence supports the claim).
