In the documentary “Killing Us Softly 4” Dr. Jean Kilbourne argues that women are objectified and dismembered by advertisers, and that this dehumanization makes violence against women more likely in our society. When men are objectified and dismembered it is not equal treatment because they are typically shown as strong and powerful, and moreover, there are no real world consequences of this process for men; after all, most men aren’t under constant threat of sexual violence.
