We observe a case of industrial melanism in which the dark coloration is caused by a single dominant gene D and light coloration is caused by a recessive gene d. In a mark and recapture experiment, we find the fitness of dark moths in a polluted area is 1.5 offspring per generation and the light moths is 0.9 offspring per generation. What is the relative fitness (W) of the dark and light phenotype? , What is the selection coefficient (S) against the light phenotype?
