You are called to an urban home for a 4-year-old with suspected chicken pox. The patient is in bed responsive only to voice and then will cry when provoked. Pulse is 118, respirations are 24 and blood pressure 88/systolic. The parents state they have been hydrating the child properly and medicating for a recurrent fever.
