William has been trying to lose weight. He feels that becaus…
William has been trying to lose weight. He feels that because he is overweight (his BMI is 28) he is unattractive to others, considered a slob, and often feels worthless. William frequently skips meals and eats only diet food. However, at least two times per week on a day that he slips and eats a cookie or when he just feels exceptionally worthless he ends up losing control and eating about three times what his diet calls for daily – in one sitting. After these times of eating in excess, William feels hopeless and that he will not ever be able to lose weight. For the past 5 months, William has begun making himself throw up after any of these times of excess eating so that he can feel satisfied that he is still somewhat on track towards his weight loss goals. Which diagnosis is most likely for Oliver?
