A 35-year-old female reports pain/swelling in the front of her knee “over the kneecap” that began 2 days ago. She denies trauma. She explains there has been no warmth, redness, or fever. She is a carpenter has been putting shingles on a roof. On exam you note swelling of the knee over the prepatellar, negative ballottement, no redness or warmth, full passive ROM but pain with flexion and extension on active ROM. She is neurovascularly intact. No evidence of any break in skin integrity and no palpable masses. Denies any medical problems and no underlying medical history. Which diagnosis would you associate with her history/exam?
