ESSAY WRITING INSTRUCTIONS INTRODUCTION: Introduce the controversy you’re focusing on in the essay. What is it, and why is it important? Provide any necessary background information, contexts. Your thesis sentence must be a single sentence that encapsulates your argument (plus the reasons for it) that you’ll focus on in your body paragraphs.
