30 years ago, a man in Palm Bay planted a sycamore tree on the east side of his house. Today, that sycamore tree is 70′ tall and, like all deciduous trees, it has a dense canopy of leaves in the summer and then in winter it drops all of those leaves on the ground. Since he planted it on the east side, that tree keeps the house in shade during the hottest part of the summer and allows the sunlight to fall on the roof in the coldest part of winter. This is an excellent example of (?).
