Anthraquinone (AQ) is often used in non-wood chemical pulping using NaOH (soda pulping) because the Kraft process does not give you much of an advantage with non-woods (i.e. rice straw, wheat straw etc). Explain why AQ works well with soda pulping of non-wood?
