A 38-year-old patient presents with a 2 day history of right leg pain. He just returned from a cross-country road trip where he was sitting in the car for up to 12 hours/day. He describes the pain as achy and states that his leg feels warm to touch and swollen. He has no history of similar symptoms or a bleeding history. He denies fever, chest pain, dyspnea or left leg. pain. Past Medical History: no known history of coagulation disorders. Medications: none KNDA PE findings: well appearing man in no acute distress. Erythema, warmth and 2+ pitting edema of the right distal lower extremity. Results of doppler ultrasound of the right lower extremity reveal an acute deep vein thrombosis of the popliteal vein.
