One of the struggles for Utilitarianism is how to calculate pleasure. This is sometimes known as the measurement problem. Basically, this problem comes from what exactly the unit of measure of pleasure is that allows us to calculate utility. For example, it clearly isn’t measured in inches or pounds. So what is it? Hedons? Utils? Whoopies?
