There is generalized calculus and 3 implants, one with significant bone loss. The dental hygiene diagnosis is stage III, grade B with a .3 level of calculus. Through a periodontal consult with the periodontist at the first appointment the patient is treatment planned to have 4 quadrants of scaling and root planing and a consultation in the graduate periodontal clinic regarding the implant. You and a senior student are paired to complete the last appointment of SPR treatment today, you are each completing one quadrant. The senior student checks out a variety of ultrasonic inserts and instruments and you are helping to set up. Use this information to answer the following questions.
