A 15- year-old girl was initially seen for “painful periods and heavy menses” and followed for the next 12 years for symptoms of menorrhagia, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. She received multiple diagnoses including menorrhagia, IBS-D, anxiety, depression, and appendicitis. She was seen by pediatric, primary care, OB-GYN, and GI. She was treated with oral contraceptives and antidepressants and underwent colonoscopy and exploratory abdominal surgery. The surgeon noted endometrial lesions throughout her abdomen but due to insurance issues, there was a delay in referral to gynecology. She was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis via diagnostic laparoscopy.
