One reason is flexibility. Flexibility is a good thing because it allows students that have full time jobs have a time to have class when it works with their schedule. Face to face classes have a set time every day they happen and you have to travel to the classroom. Virtual learning makes it possible to have the class after hours and not have to travel to a school. You can learn right from your own home. Another reason it is so flexible is because if you have cell phone service you can attend class from anywhere. The kids in the agriculture community took advantage of this during covid because they could drive the tractor and attend class at the same time. When Covid hit, it was March of my 8th grade year, it was the best thing ever at the time because it added three months to our summer break. The best part was it was still snowing during the extension of summer break. When it first started we were only supposed to be out of school for two weeks. So the teachers got a bunch of work put together and sent it to the students. Our school did not mandate that we turn in the work so three quarters of my class and the school did not do any work. Flexibility or not, not doing any school work during this period of time was not a good thing for students. Most of the students live a long way from town so, most of them could not do any work because they do not have a good wifi connection. Basically the flexibility of virtual learning is only possible when the technology is working and up to date. Another advantage of that flexibility is all of the work is online and can not be lost. If the professor gives a speech or a lecture it is always going to be on the computer. This allows you to watch the lecture as many times as you want and don’t have to try and remember everything the professor said.
