Answer the next 5 questions after reading this paragraph: A Seattle Public Utilities sewage treatment plant uses microorganisms to help treat the wastewater and make it more suitable for release into waterways that lead into Puget Sound. Solid wastes (sludge) are first sent to an anaerobic sludge digester. The remaining liquid (called effluent) is sprayed over a bed of rocks that are coated with a biofilm. Then in the final stage of treatment, the liquid flows into another tank containing bacteria that removes phosphates, nitrates and sulfates. At this stage, methane gas is also produced and used to power the treatment plant. Finally, the cleaner wastewater is released into a nearby Puget Sound.
