Yоu design the fоllоwing experiment to test conservаtion of energy with а spring. In the experiment you tаke a compression spring of unknown spring constant k. You put a solid block of mass of 1 kg touching the spring. You compress the spring, wait a second for the mass to be at rest and let go. You observe that the spring pushes the block which then slides and stop due to kinetic friction.  You arrange your experiment such that x = 0 is the equilibrium value. You are then able to measure the position of the spring when it is compressed and you can measure the velocity of the mass when it is released (you get that by measuring how far it slides since you have determined the kinetic friction force in a previous experiment. ). Doing this experiment 5 times for different compression you collect the following data position of compressed spring (m) Speed of block just after release from spring (m/s) 0.061 0.18 0.052 0.16 0.034 0.1 0.021 0.06 0.018 0.05   You put this data into StatKey with speed on vertical axis and position on horizontal.  First you are happy to see that the data shows a good correlation between v and x as expected from conservation of energy where . Second you can use the data from the "best fit line" to find the value of the spring constant.  You do not have a calculator so you approximate and find
