Bill was a farmer who grew corn. Bill’s property was directly adjacent to land owned by Fred. Fred was a rancher who raised cattle. The properties owned by Bill and Fred were separated by a barbed wire fence. One day, several cows belonging to Fred trampled down the barbed wire fence and entered Bill’s cornfield to eat the ears of corn that were growing there. The cows trampled approximately one-half acre of corn. It is estimated that the loss of one-half acre of corn can be valued at approximately $2500.00. The cows had never entered on to Bill’s land before, nor had they ever caused any such damage anywhere else. What cause(s) of action are available to Bill against Fred?
