He often used sex to make his point; the women he drew were called Christy Girls, and they tended to be sexy and wholesome at the same time. The historical Joan of Arc was eventually burned at the stake for blasphemy and dressing as a man, but her military leadership arguably saved France during the Hundred Years' War, so she has been a powerful symbol for centuries since. Question: Other than the popularity of Joan the Woman, why do you suppose the artist chose Joan of Arc as the subject of their poster?
