BONUS QUESTION (worth up to 3 bonus points) Both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines have been shown to be 90% efficacious against SARS-CoV2. These vaccines are novel mRNA based vaccines. The mRNA for the glycoproteins from the virus is administered into the patient. The patient then synthesizes the proteins, and slowly builds an immunological arsenal able to recognize the glycoproteins on the outside of the virus. Why do you think Pfizer decided to target just the glycoproteins? If one is able to produce antibodies against the glycoproteins what have you effectively done?
