This grоund breаking sаxоphоnist – bаnd leader was grounded in Blues and the music of Charlie Parker, but developed a radically different approach to the way he approached tune structures and the conventional chord sequences that had been part of jazz to this point. His bassist, Charlie Haden, described the music as playing on the “feeling” of a piece rather than its chord structure.
