A 90 yeаr оld mаle with PMH оf HTN аnd оsteoporosis reports Left hip pain since yesterday.  The patient reports he slipped and fell in the shower yesterday and has had the pain since then.  The patient reports he barely can put any weight on the left leg and had been using a chair for ambulation.  The patient denies previous injuries to the hip.  On exam, the patient is in mild painful distress.  The left leg appears mildly shorter than the opposite leg.  Left leg is slightly abducted and mildly externally rotated.  There is tenderness to palpation in the left groin and upper thigh area.  Decreased flexion at the left hip due to pain.  Pelvis is stable.  Distal thigh and knee non-tender.  Left knee with no effusion and with FROM.  Left calf and ankle with no tenderness and with FROM.  Left foot with no signs of injury and with FROM.  Rest of the exam unremarkable.  VS: BP: 145/90 mmHg Rt arm sitting; HR: 95 bpm; T: 98.6F; R: 16.
