Pleаse reаd the fоllоwing infоrmed consent form: Deаr Norridge Park District Residents, During recent summer seasons, the pool has experienced extended closures due to mechanical and structural failures and the pool may face full closure in the coming year(s). While the average pool life span is 25-35 years, our pool has lasted for over 59 years. The pool is a valued resource in our community and the community has looked forward each year to the summer season enjoying the sight, sounds and experience of learn to swim programs, aqua fitness, open swim, camp and more. Results of a comprehensive Aquatic Audit conducted in 2019 indicated $2.8 million is needed to repair the identified structural and mechanical problems (e.g., improving and monitoring pool chemistry so that the water is safe to swim in, replacing leaky and failing pool piping and required code compliance items). Addressing these issues with repairs does not specifically extend the life of the pool as other items not replaced may fail. Current and future failures would result in closing the pool due to the condition and age of the pool. The Norridge Park District reviewed options and held a community meeting for input on repairs versus a pool replacement. Input from residents indicated preference to replace the pool in order to provide the community with a safe and accessible aquatic facility and to responsibly utilize park district resources over the course of the next 1-20 years. A pool replacement is projected to cost $6.5 million dollars. The park district does not currently have the resources to fully fund this project without the support of capital through a referendum, which would impact your taxes. A $6.5 million dollar pool project fully funded via referendum would impact a $300,000 home value at the amount of $54 per year for 20 years. The park district would like your input on funding options. Please answer the questions regarding the Norridge Park District Pool. We appreciate your input.
