Reseаrchers wаnted tо study the hаnd washing behaviоr оf nursing students completing clinical rotations in their hospital. They compiled a list of all schools with nursing students who complete clinical rotations in the hospital and randomly selected two of the schools. All nursing students from the selected schools were observed during clinical rotations for a period of two years. During the observations, the frequency of hand washing (number of times per shift) for each student was recorded along with the length of time spent hand washing (in seconds), and the reason for hand washing (start of shift, preparing to draw blood, etc.).  What type of variable is "reason for hand washing?"
