In the spring of 2023, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker laid out a plan to “transform” the youth mental health care system. In this plan, he pledged to “transform the frayed connective tissue that permeates the health care system” in order to enable families to more easily access help. Some of the (12) recommendations include: expanding eligibility for services, developing more transitional housing so that fewer young people wait in Emergency Rooms, and creating an online portal for easier family access to information. In the first paragraph, make an argument for why you believe Pritzker’s plan an example of a functionalist, conflict theory, or symbolic interactionist approach to the problem of youth mental health. In the second paragraph, explain why you believe Pritzker’s plan will be successful or not. Both paragraphs should include evidence (i.e. examples) to support your argument.
