It is no secret that the U.S. had an ugly past when it came to people of color and that many black Americans did not receive a fair chance when it came to job in that day and time of society. With the changing of the times and a generation of more caring professionals, acts and laws allowed the passage into equal and fair opportunity for all. However the actions of some new methods proved to be anything but fair and equal. The affirmative action policies have affected white males and created a “White Male Backlash” reverse discrimination. In a new era and with officers fighting to end discrimination to allow black officers in against the old ways, many of the offers found themselves discriminated against due to their own race. White officers were subject to discrimination in hiring and promotion opportunities. The text goes on to describe these events as the following: Reverse discrimination White males were passed over on entrance and promotion examinations by minorities, some of whom had received lower test scores Majority individuals often label the preferential treatment received by minority groups as reverse discrimination Ricci v.
