Review the fоllоwing evidence regаrding treаtment оptions for pаtients with recurrent Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) and select all of the evidence-based recommendations that reflect sound scientific analysis.  Study A (2013): Randomized trial of 43 patients with recurrent CDI. Treatment groups: (1) fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) via nasoduodenal tube, (2) oral vancomycin alone, (3) vancomycin + bowel lavage. Results: 81% cure rate with FMT versus 31% with vancomycin alone. Study was stopped early due to clear superiority of FMT. Study B (2016): A probiotic containing Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium tested in 2,941 hospitalized patients on antibiotics. Results: 0.8% developed CDI in probiotic group versus 1.2% in placebo group (not statistically significant, p=0.18). Case Report (2019): Immunocompromised patient receiving chemotherapy developed fatal bloodstream infection from multi-drug resistant E. coli after FMT. Investigation found the donor stool had not been adequately screened for resistant organisms. Results: Children receiving prebiotics showed improved gut microbiome diversity and 23% reduction in diarrheal episodes over 6 months.
