Mark is comparing young adult (age 18 – 30) understandings of gender roles across 10 countries. After extensive research, Mark notices that individuals often perceive their own society and their own role within that society as the only possible way to structure a society. Thus, even in their efforts to create change, people perpetuate their own oppression by acting out worldviews that originate from and help to continue that oppression.
