Patty, a resident of California, purchases a car manufacture…

Patty, a resident of California, purchases a car manufactured by Destiny Motors.  Destiny is a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Michigan.  Destiny is a national car manufacturer, and they sell cars in all 50 states through local dealerships.  Patty purchased her car from Terrific Cars, an authorized Destiny dealer.  Terrific Cars is a corporation organized in California with its principal place of business in California. Terrific Cars only sells cars in California. Patty is on a cross-country road trip.  Unbeknownst to Patty, her car has a manufacturer’s defect that causes the steering to malfunction in colder weather.  While she is traversing through Colorado, the weather turns cold and her steering malfunctions, causing her to crash into a tree.  She suffers significant but not life-threatening injuries. Patty sues Destiny Motors and Terrific Cars in the Federal District Court for the Central District of California. Question 1:  Discuss whether the Federal District Court has personal jurisdiction over Destiny Motors. Question 2:  Discuss whether the Central District of California is the proper venue for the lawsuit. Question 3:  Are there any other reasons why the Central District of California cannot hear this case?
