Recent research has focused on using Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) and other online environments, such as Twitter or Wikipedia, as laboratories to study social and cultural behaviors, proclaiming the value of virtual realities for insights into real-world relationships. While some researchers assert that virtual world connections are not different from real world interactions, others argue that these simulated realities have little to do with physical interactions. Are online environments accurate representations of human behavior in the physical world? Do these virtual worlds make people more or less prepared for social interaction and experiences in the real world? Make sure that you use specific examples along with at least two of the assigned items (which you may quote, paraphrase, or summarize) to develop your argument.
