Bаiley is а lаwyer whо wоrks fоr a law firm that represents technology firms (clients) when these firms want to sue other firms for patent infringement (using the technology firm's patents without permission). At any point in time the law firm may be working on a dozen cases, with small teams of lawyers working on different cases. Bailey and all other lawyers keep track of the hours they work by client. The law firm keeps track of how much the firm receives from each case, with the total revenue being partly based on an hourly rate and partly based on a percentage of the money (if any) they win in damages for their client. Each year the law firms gives bonuses to each lawyer based on a combination of the number of hours they worked, and the amount of revenue the firm earned from the clients they worked on. Last year Bailey worked an average number of hours (2900) for lawyers at the firm, with some lawyers working more and others working less. Fortunately for her, one of the cases she worked on resulted in very large damages for the client, and the law firm received a very large fee for their work. Hence, when it came time for the year end bonuses, Bailey's bonus ($55,000) was more than the average bonus lawyers received ($44,000).  This difference in bonuses could be considered fair using the concept of [BLANK-1].
