Use the example below to identify the theory, hypothesis, IV, and DV. A researcher is interested in the effects of exercise on anxiety. In order to test this, the researcher plans to break participants up into 3 groups by the amount of exercise they will do (no exercise, moderate exercise, and vigorous exercise). The researcher will then measure to see if anxiety went up or down for each group. The researcher predicts that the moderate exercise group will show a decrease in anxiety, while the other two groups will show no change in anxiety.
