You are a paralegal in a Legal Aid office.  The office manager Cindy, who writes all the checks for the organization, will not be back for several hours.  Your supervising attorney asks you to get the checkbook out of Cindy's (office manager's) desk and issue a check that he needs right now.  You walk into Cindy's office and one of the desk drawers is slightly open.and you can see the checkbook in it.  You reach in and retrieve the checkbook.  You know you are not authorized to sign the check so you take it to the firm accountant who typically reconciles all the firm accounts.  She says, "Well this isn't how it's usually done, but I'll sign it since Cindy isn't here.  I know her kid is sick so I feel bad for her."  The accountant signs the check and you start walking down the hall to take it to the attorney who requested it.  On your way, a receptionists gives you some mail and says, "Oh since Cindy isn't here, can you drop her mail off and put it on her desk.  Oh, and one of these looks like a check.  You should probably open it and give it to the accountant for deposit".  Do you see any potential problems in this scenario?
