Group A is going to start a multi-year project to determine how quickly various species return to the area, and how the set of species changes over time following the fire. Group B is also setting up a long-term project to determine how fire affects permafrost thaw and carbon release due to microbial activity in the soil. Group A's project is an example of [a] research.
