Questiоn 17 Kоrmаssа is frоm Liberiа. The government brutally killed her husband, a prominent opponent of Charles Taylor, during the civil war. Within months of arriving in the United States, she sought assistance for a claim to asylum from an attorney who a friend recommended. The attorney’s main area of practice was not immigration, but he wanted to help Kormassa as best as he could because he was sympathetic to her story. The attorney filed her application about nine months after she arrived in the United States. After waiting two years for an interview date, Kormassa has finally been called. In order to prepare, she reads over the application for asylum and supporting documents that the attorney filed on her behalf and she realizes that there are many inaccuracies. She seeks out a new attorney who listens to her story and compares the information Kormassa is giving now with that in the asylum application already filed and advises that a new application should be submitted to correct and supplement the information already provided. The new attorney also discovered that the central reason for Kormassa’s claim was never mentioned in the prior application and has no relationship to the claims already presented.  What will be the consequence if Kormassa files a new asylum application?
