Questions

Whо develоped the "P-D-C-A Cycle"? [аns]

Chооse аt leаst THREE оf the following questions to аnswer. In your responses, make sure you number your answer to correspond to the question number you are addressing. (They are worth 10 points each) 1. Killmonger and T'Challa represent two very different sides of the African diasporic experience (diaspora = the spreading out of a people from their homelands to other lands). Killmonger is a militant Black-power character who is characterized as the villain. T'Challa is an isolationist but superpowered politician who is characterized as the hero. Why do you think these two groups are at odds with one another ideologically? What common ground could they find? If Killmonger had used different tactics to achieve his goal of empowering (militarily) other African descendants around the world, would the movie have played out differently? 2. Recall Park's Race Relations Cycle and the spectrum from genocide to pluralism (from a lecture slide video). When thinking of the different nations throughout the movie, where are they at in that cycle? Explain. (You should have different answers for different parts of the movie.) When considering the different tribes within Wakanda itself--the Wakandans and the Jabaris--where do they fit along the spectrum and who is the dominant group and who is the minority group? 3. The “white savior” trope is commonly used in Western media--this is when a white person takes the role of "savior" or the person who solves the problem for people of color or literally saves BIPOC lives. [Some examples are the films The Blind Side, The Help, The Last Samurai, The Great Wall, and even Avatar] How does the film Black Panther both support and subvert the white savior message with Agent Ross’ actions during the large battle scene? 4. This question is less about race and more about gender. The Dora Milaje, the warriors that protect the royal family, are all women and are said to be the fiercest warriors in all of Wakanda. Discuss how this upends the stereotypes of women.  5. Affirmative action 6. Beauty standards are addressed both directly and indirectly in the film. Give an example of each and how that addresses racial issues.
