A 20 year old, female college soccer player sustained an injury yesterday when she was at soccer practice. She is being evaluated at an orthopedic surgeon’s office today. When the nurse asked her what happened she states that she was running towards the ball as it was rolling towards the side line and extended her left leg to keep the ball from going out of play. She states she felt a “pop” followed by instant, unyielding pain. She had to be assisted to a standing position and has not been able to bear any weight on the injured left leg. She was evaluated in the emergency department yesterday. The emergency room physician ordered an MRI which was done this morning and confirms a medial meniscus tear. The nurse anticipates the orthopedic surgeon will perform which diagnostic procedure for further analysis of the patient’s injury?
