A term male infant is delivered via prolonged second stage of labor with vacuum assistance. At 6 hours of life, physical examination reveals a fluctuant scalp swelling over the right parietal region. The swelling is well circumscribed, does not extend beyond the sagittal suture, and was not noted immediately at birth but has become more apparent over the first several hours of life. The overlying skin is intact with no bruising.
