Essay (25 points): Answer one of the following: Imagine that you meet a new kindergarten teacher in the toy store as you are shopping. You tell her that you just completed a course in developmentally appropriate planning for young children, and she asks you what you learned about a child-centered curriculum that could help her in her new job as a teacher. Describe three things you have learned in this course that you could tell her. Be specific and provide examples. 2. While reading group posts in an early education group you follow on social media, you come across this post: To all the EC Educators, Save us from all these new fads in education like the DAP stuff that is highlighted in this group. I say it’s time we stopped fooling around and got down to the business of teaching our children what they need to know – reading, writing, and arithmetic. No wonder we’re not number 1 in education – students are just playing all day and teachers are milling around not really teaching. If we’re going to educate our youngsters well, we need to start early and get them used to what real school is like.
