THE WRITER IN YOU We’ve аll hаd experiences in writing, sоme greаt, sоme nоt so hot: book reports, resumes, grocery lists, the great American novella, notes to your best friend. What’s interesting is that what we write—and how we go about writing it—oftenreveals something about who we are, what’s valuable to us, our strengths, and even our insecurities. Not surprisingly, how we perceive (even judge) ourselves as writers is often colored by our experiences—both good and bad. Keeping that in mind, explore your ideas in answer to the below question. The bullet list is meant to help you think about how you could answer that question in essay form—you DO NOT need to address all these points in your essay. What do you already know about yourself as a writer? • Use a specific writing project you have created in past to help you think about how you could answer this question. Try to choose one (or two) projects that you think are “perfect illustrations” of who you are as writer. • Consider the process you follow when you decide to write. How might that say something about you as “a writer”? Feel free to focus on what you do when you sit down to write and describe that process as part of your answer. • What do you think you’re going to experience as a writer in this class? Do you believe this course will help you grow?
