The differences between the LA Riots and the January 6, 2020 riot are probably obvious to everyone. What you must do is write an essay identifying the similarities between them. What do these two violent events share in common? You may create a list of those similarities if you like, but I also want at least a couple paragraphs written where you discuss those similarities and how they relate to specific factors in the Turner & Killian’s Emergent Norm theory -OR- Smelser’s Value-added theory. You may write about both theories if you like, but no one is expected or required to do so.
