To better understand the social network of our rural Caucasian women we asked them how close they felt to their 5 closest friends, with answers ranging from 1 (Very Distant) to 7 (Very Close). We then created a composite variable by summing those five scores – creating the variable FriendCloseness. Below are relevant tables and graphs pertaining to this composite variable.
