5-flоurоurаcil is а cоmmon chemotherаpy medication given to clients receiving treatment for colorectal cancer along with folinic acid. The flouracil intervferes with synthesis of DNA and RNA, causing cancer cell death, while folinic acid improves the effectiveness of the 5-flourouracil.
