You were off hiking one day and found some beautiful tremolite crystals. (Tremolite is a relatively common amphibole mineral.) You X-ray your sample and find that you get a good diffraction pattern. But, when you compare it to standard patterns you discover that all the peaks are at slightly greater angles than expected. What could explain this?
